An Indiana County furniture store celebrated its 75th anniversary with a Chamber of Commerce after hours reception last night.
Douds of Plumville opened for the first time in 1950 by J.L. “Red” Douds, with the business starting out as an appliance store that later expanded to furniture and carpeting with that becoming the main business driver. In the 1960’s the store converted to the “gallery” type store that is common today.
Bart Brice, Douds’ grandson, is the current General Manager of Douds of Plumville. He said he was grateful for all the customers over the years.
Brice was also thankful for the employees over the years.
The business grew to a second location in Greensburg.
