Esmerlyn Valdez was “only” 2-for-5 last night as his Salt River Rafters belted Mesa, 14-1. Valdez is hitting .519 in the Arizona Fall League with eight home runs in ten games. No other player has more than three homers. He’s second in RBIs with 17.
Pirates prospect Carlson Reed started for Salt River and threw four innings of shutout ball, giving up one hit and two walks while striking out four.
