UPDATE: Indiana Borough Police say a pedestrian was hurt as he was struck by a car last night at the intersection of 4th and Philadelphia Streets.
Police were sent out at 7:23 AM to the scene and found the unnamed victim had suffered non-life threatening injuries. He was sent to IRMC for treatment. Through investigation and reports from eyewitnesses, police determined the victim had entered the crosswalk when the lights showed it was not safe to cross. A vehicle that was following all traffic laws had the green arrow to turn, drove through the intersection at a slow speed and hit the pedestrian.
The victim was cited for failing to exercise care at a crosswalk by borough police. That citation was sent to District Judge Tony Sottile’s office.
