Democratic Senator John Fetterman said he would back Republican efforts to override the Senate filibuster to end the ongoing government shutdown.
As the stalemate enters its third week, the Pennsylvania lawmaker indicated he would not oppose GOP senators using the so-called “nuclear option.” That move would allow Republicans to eliminate the filibuster and pass a House-approved funding bill in the Senate with a simple majority vote.
Fetterman told reporters that “there’s no winners here,” emphasizing that the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is running low on funds while people “need to eat.”
