The Indiana Area school board’s Buildings, Grounds, & Transportation Committee will hear from a representative of Pivatol GP Holdings, the group that is trying to buy the former Horace Mann Elementary School on South 5th Street. Trey Barbour will answer questions from the committee and the public. Superintendent Rob Heinrich said last week that there are several issues that must be properly handled when selling a school building, including the assurance that the district gets fair market value. Pivatol wants to use the Horace Mann building for affordable housing.
Among other topics, the committee will also discuss the Eisenhower, ESCO, high school classroom renovation, and East Pike and Ben Franklin cooler/freezer projects.
Marion Center’s board will hold a work session on Monday. Among the items up for discussion are a new surface for the track at Dr. John R. Mallino Stadium and some work on the swimming pool at the McCreery school.
River Valley’s board will hold a committee meeting on Wednesday, as will the Academic Committee at Homer-Center.
