The annual Love of Life 5K will be run this morning in Indiana.
The event, which benefits The Comprehensive Breast Center at IRMC, will start at 9, but runners and walkers will meet on 8th Street near the S&T Bank Parking Lot to get ready for the run this morning. Heather Reed with the Indiana Healthcare Foundation said that over 607 people have signed up so far for the event, which is a new record. The run is in honor of the fight against breast cancer. She said that she is seeing proof that it is becoming more prevalent every day.
On top of the run and fun walk, several downtown businesses will be giving back today. If you shop at The 700 Shop, Meraki Boutique, Lucy Ray, The Philly Street Candle Bar, Sit and Stay Café and Fresh Blends Smoothie Café, a percentage of their sales will be donated back to the campaign. Reed said she wants it to be a full day in Downtown Indiana for attendees.
The course will take runners south to Indiana Regional Medical Center and Mack Park. Returning through Mack Park, the town and the fringe of IUP to the finish line. The route will be marked with signs, and roads will be closed to keep runners safe.
