The State System of Higher Education’s Board of Governors will meet tomorrow and one of the items on the agenda is the approval of budgets for the System as a whole and each of the state-owned universities. The budget considerations come in the absence of a Pennsylvania budget, which is three-and-a-half months overdue.
After actual expenditures in 2024-’25 of $222.6 million offset by $245.8 million in revenue, IUP’s proposed budget is a balanced $216.1 million. The projected budget for 2026-’27 is $1.6 million more. Only the combined three campuses of Commonwealth University and Penn West University, along with West Chester, have larger budgets than IUP.
The fall budget figures are based on an assumption of level funding in the new fiscal year, rather than the 6.5 percent increase that was used in the budget projections in July.
