The Indiana County Tourist Bureau has received state funding for a new initiative celebrating pet-friendly travel in the region.
The Bureau was awarded a grant through Pennsylvania’s Great American Getaway Co-op Program to support Indiana County’s Canine Adventure — a year-round, self-guided experience designed for visitors and their dogs.
Created with help from Mutts of Merit and several community partners, the Canine Adventure features around 100 pet-friendly locations across the county, from parks and trails to local businesses.
For a $40 registration fee, participants receive a hoodie, a map, and a bandana for their dog, plus a chance to win prizes by submitting photos from various stops during different seasons.
Registration is available at the Indiana County Tourist Bureau office inside the Indiana Mall, Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 4. More details can be found online at visitindianacountypa.org.
