Indiana County will pay tribute to those who served our country today at special ceremonies in Oakland Cemetery.
“The Final Salute” will be a public service at the cemetery’s main flag pole. During the ceremony, the remains of eight unclaimed veterans will be interred. Indiana County Department of Veterans Affairs Director Jessica Walker said that it is one way that Indiana County continues to show its respect for those who served our country in the armed forces.
The event will be hosted by the Veterans Affairs department and by Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overman, Jr. Urns for the veterans have been provided by the Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home.
Ceremonies will start at 11:00, but due to the crowds, people are asked to arrive early.
