Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro is joining a coalition of states opposing President Trump’s deployment of National Guard troops across the country.
The governor filed an amicus briefing with 22 other states arguing Trump’s deployment of troops to Oregon is illegal and “flouts the vision of our Founders.” The filing says the authority to regulate the National Guard is only granted to governors. Shapiro said he filed the brief to “make very, very clear” that the Pennsylvania National Guard is under his command and will be used “responsibly.”
