Through four games, Aaron Rodgers is throwing the shortest passes in the NFL, and he throws them quicker than any other quarterback. Don’t expect that to change on Sunday against the Browns.
Rodgers’ passes average only 2.7 yards in the air and his yards per attempt are just 4.9. His average pass is released just 2.52 seconds after the snap. He says the Browns play a Cover 2 defense that takes away deep passes, and defensive coordinator Jim Schawartz is a master at disguising his schemes.
Rodgers says the AFC North rivalries are a lot like the old NFC North rivalries he experienced when he played for Green Bay.
Rodgers says the Steelers have to pay special attention to Myles Garrett, the Browns’ outstanding defensive lineman.
At practice yesterday, Alex Highsmith, Joey Porter Jr., and Jaylen Warren were full participants while Jaylen Ramsey and Calvin Austin III were absent. Highsmith is returning from a high ankle sprain, Porter from a hamstring injury, and Warren from a knee injury. Ramsey has a hamstring injury and Austin a shoulder injury.
The Steelers yesterday signed inside linebacker Jacoby Windmon to their practice squad. He was with them last year for preseason and training camp before being signed off the practice squad by Carolina. He played in eight games for the Panthers.
