Police in several Westmoreland County communities report that recent car thefts are being carried out by criminals from Pittsburgh.
Irwin Borough Police Chief Dan Wensel stated that vehicles stolen from his community and from Murrysville in recent weeks were later discovered back in Pittsburgh. According to Chief Wensel, the stolen cars are being taken to be used in other crimes.
Law enforcement officials across Westmoreland County are urging residents to remove firearms and other valuables from their vehicles and to ensure that cars are locked with the keys taken out.
