U.S. Senators John Fetterman (D-PA) and Joni Ernst (R-IA) have reintroduced the Consistent Egg Labels Act, a bipartisan bill that would require the FDA to prevent plant-based products from using the term “egg” in marketing or labeling.
The proposal aims to clearly define eggs as products derived from poultry and ensure honest labeling for consumers.
Lawmakers say the measure protects farmers and reduces confusion at grocery stores.
