The Steelers players returned from their bye week travels to the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex yesterday, ready to get to work on preparing for this Sunday’s game against the Browns at Acrisure Stadium.
Joey Porter Jr. and Alex Highsmith both said they are ready to go. Porter has been out since injuring a hamstring in Week One. Highsmith has been out with a high ankle sprain since Week Two.
Porter said it doesn’t matter to the Steelers that the Browns are likely to start rookie Dillon Gabriel at quarterback. After all, it’s the Browns and Steelers, and that’s hard enough.
The Steelers did not activate quarterback Will Howard or cornerback Donte Kent from injured reserve, so neither of them practiced.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Steelers have signed running back/returner Raheem Blackshear to their practice squad. He played the last three seasons in Carolina and can return both punts and kicks. Also, safety Jack Henderson was signed to the practice squad. He’s a rookie out of Minnesota who spent training camp with Carolina.
