The peak fall leaf color season is rapidly approaching for Indiana County, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
According to the recent fall foliage report, Indiana County and the surrounding area are all in the “approaching peak color” phase, as is most of the state. Peak color is reported in a handful of counties in the north to northeast, along with Somerset County. Four counties in the north-central part of the state are just beginning to go past peak colors, while the rest of the state is just starting to see colors turn.
DCNR officials say the rain that came through the state was able to slow things down for many forests that were reporting drought stress and producing early colors.
