With the main roster stars on the Ice, the Pens beat the Buffalo Sabres 5-4 in Overtime.
Penguins forward Sidney Crosby scored two goals, including the winning score 9 seconds into the overtime period. Goals were also scored by Philip Thomasino, Harrison Brunicke and Rickard Rakell
Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry started the contest and unofficially made 16 saves on 19 shots over 30:17 of ice time. Sergei Murashov replaced Jarry midway through the contest as scheduled. He stopped 12 of 13 shots during 29:52 of time on ice, boosting his record to 2-0-1.
The Pens open the season next Thursday on the road at the New York Rangers.
