Marion Center, Cambria Heights and River Valley came into Week 7 of the Heritage Conference football as the top three teams and all three won handily Friday night to maintain their upper tier status.
Marion Center remained undefeated, beating Northern Cambria, 49-26, at Duffy Daugherty Stadium on U92.5 FM and Renda Digital TV. Northern Cambria is 3-4. Todd Marino haf the recap.
Cambria Heights rolled over Portage, 52-6, scoring more than 50 points for a second straight week and improving to 6-1. Portage sits at 2-5.
River Valley recorded one of three shutouts in the conference, beating Purchase Line, 35-0. The Panthers are also 6-1, while Purchase Line fell to 2-5. Jeff Cribbs had the recap on Cat Country 106.3 FM.
Homer-Center (5-2) turned in a shutout against winless Conemaugh Valley, 47-0. It was the Wildcats, start to finish. Mark Bertig had the recap on WCCS and Renda Digital TV.
The third shutout was much closer, with Conemaugh Township (4-3) defeating Penns Manor (3-4), 6-0.
United Valley (4-3) appeared headed to a fourth shutout, leading West Shamokin, 28-0, at halftime. The Lions came away with a 28-7 win. The Wolves are still hunting for their first win.
