Spirit Airlines will cut and add some runs to its service out of Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Latrobe.
Westmoreland County Airport Authority Executive director Gabe Monzo said that the airport will lose the twice-weekly service to Fort Lauderdale sometime in November, but will add two flights a week to Orlando. This will give time for those who were on the Fort Lauderdale run time to make new arrangements, if needed. Spirit is altering its service at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport as part of the company’s proceedings to reorganize its finances as it works its way through Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Monzo added that the two new runs to Orlando, a popular tourist destination, are considered a “big deal”.
Spirit also announced that the seasonal run from Latrobe to Myrtle Beach, SC will end in November as well. Monzo said that cancellation was anticipated.
Spirit remains the only commercial airline provider serving the airport in Latrobe.
