UPDATE: Authorities have charged a 14-year-old boy in connection with the stabbing deaths of two women in Carrolltown Borough.
State Police say troopers were called to a home on the 100 block of Flick Avenue Monday evening after a welfare check. Inside, they found two women dead in the living room. Investigators say the victims were 32-year-old Olivia Courtney — the teen’s mother — and 38-year-old Ashley Cook, described as a family friend. Both suffered multiple stab wounds to the head and torso.
Troopers say the suspect, 14-year-old Judah Courtney, initially told a neighbor that someone had killed his relatives. But according to the criminal complaint, he later admitted to the stabbings — both in person and in messages he sent over Snapchat, even showing the victims’ bodies in a video.
Police say three bloody knives were recovered from a garbage can at the scene. During an interview at the state police barracks, investigators say the teen admitted he intended to kill the victims.
At a press conference, District Attorney Greg Neugebauer announced Courtney will be charged as an adult. He is being held at Cambria County Prison with special precautions in place. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 16th.
