Congressional leaders say their meeting with President Trump yesterday didn’t move the needle on an effort to avoid a government shutdown. Democrats and Republicans are blaming each other, but Pennsylvania Democratic Senator John Fetterman says finger-pointing doesn’t help.
Democrats are pushing to extend health care assistance that expires at the end of the year, while Republicans insist their stopgap spending bill is final. The government will partially shut down at 12:01 a.m. Eastern time tomorrow if no deal can be reached.
