The Pens beat the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 to pick up their first win of the preseason. Forwards Conor Dewar, Robby Fabbri and Philip Tomasino each scored their first goals of the preseason Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry, in his first appearance of the preseason, made 11 saves on 13 shots in 31:48 of ice time as the starter. His replacement, Arturs Silvos, coming in just past the half-way mark, stopped all seven shots he faced to pick up the win.
Next up is tonight’s much-anticipated pre-season game between the Pens and Columbus. Pens legend Marc-Andre Fleury is expected to play a portion of tonight’s game as part of the ceremonial tryout contract he signed to celebrate his retirement. He took part in practice yesterday, gaining a standing ovation from the fans gathered to watch the practice at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry. He was subject to several five-on-none rushes led by Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang and Erik Karlsson among others
