Pennsylvania is joining several Northeastern states and New York City in forming the Northeast Public Health Collaborative.
The group, made up of public health agencies and leaders, will share expertise, improve coordination, enhance capacity, strengthen regional readiness and promote and protect evidence-based public health. Pennsylvania’s Health Secretary Dr. Debra Bogen said in a statement that working with health experts from other states “allows us to exchange best practices, pursue improvements and efficiencies, and explore opportunities to better meet the needs of Pennsylvanians.”
The move comes as national health agencies revisit their vaccine recommendations on the updated Covid shots and the measles, mumps, rubella and varicella vaccine. Pennsylvania is joining others from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York state and New York City, Rhode Island and Maryland in the group. As each participating area has different needs, members may choose to participate in or adapt those specific initiatives consistent with their particular needs, values, objectives, and statutory or regulatory requirements.
