The most recent drought map for Indiana County shows a small increase in the percentage of territory affected by moderate drought, adding about 4,000 people to the tally. The report by the National Integrated Drought Information System shows almost 38.52 percent of the county in drought, up from 34.72.
The amount of rainfall recorded so far in September at the Pennsylvania American Water Company Two Lick Filter Plant is .45 inches. The average rainfall for September is 3.68 to 4.18 inches.
Six more Pennsylvania counties were added to the drought list last week, bringing the total to 23, all in the western half of the state.
