New coach Dan Muse will welcome sixty-nine players to the opening of Penguins’ training camp today at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry.
Among the players trying to make the team on Professional Tryout Contracts is veteran forward Robby Fabbri, a former first round draft pick of the St. Louis Blues who has also played for Detroit, and last season for Anaheim, where he scored eight goals and had eight assists.
Five players – Noel Acciari, Rutger McGroarty, Tanner Howe, 2025 first round draft pick Bill Zonnon, and second round pick Peyton Kettles – will be in camp but are all out for undisclosed medical reasons.
One Penguin listed as being in camp on a Professional Tryout Contract is Marc-Andre Fleury, the future Hall of Fame goaltender who will practice with the team next Friday the 26th, then will take the ice the following night and play part of an exhibition game against Columbus.
Muse will split the team into three groups this morning, with Group A taking the ice at 8:45 AM. All practices are free and open to the public.
