The extended dry spells are affecting water supplies for municipalities.
Blairsville Borough’s Municipal Authority is asking its customers to voluntarily reduce non-essential water use. They advise some simple tips right now, including limiting watering the grass or gardens, hold off on washing cars and turning off the tap while brushing teeth or washing dishes in the sink.
The Central Indiana County Water Authority is also asking its customers to voluntarily cut back. A similar request will soon be made for customers in seven districts for the Indiana County Municipal Services Authority. The eighth district in Crooked Creek remains under a mandatory water conservation order that has been in place since August 11th.
There’s no word yet on a conservation request from Pennsylvania American Water Company.
