After sweeping the LA Dodgers, the Pirates have lost eight of their last nine games, including five out of six on their road trip to Baltimore and Washington. The five losses on the road trip were all by one run. Joe Block has the recap of yesterday’s loss to the Nationals.

The Pirates play the first of their final six games of the season at PNC Park tonight. Braxton Ashcraft [4-2, 2.47 ERA] gets the start against the Cubs and former Bucco Jameson Taillon [9-6, 4.15 ERA]. Airtime is 6:15 with first pitch at 6:40 on WCCS.
After the homestand against the Cubs and A’s, the Pirates go on the road for the final six games of the season, at Cincinnati and Atlanta next week.
