The Steelers made some roster moves yesterday, placing linebacker Malik Harrison and quarterback Skylar Thompson on injured reserve, signing cornerback James Pierre off the practice squad, and signing quarterback Logan Woodside to the practice squad.
Harrison injured his knee in Sunday’s game against the Jets. Thompson injured a hamstring in practice last week. The team also officially announced the signing of veteran defensive back Jabril Peppers, who can play safety, slot corner and even edge corner if needed.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers held his weekly media availability and took some of the blame for getting sacked four times by the Jets. He said he wasn’t moving very well because of a sore back. He also said he wants to hook up with wide receivers DK Metcalf and Calvin Austin more than he did on Sunday.
Rodgers says Metcalf, who will be playing against his former team on Sunday when the Steelers play Seattle, is a true leader in the locker room as well as on the field.
Rodgers said the four sacks were not the fault of his offensive line.
The quarterback is eager to play the home opener at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday, especially after Steelers fans cheered the team on in the fourth quarter last week on the road.
At practice yesterday, Joey Porter Jr. was out with his hamstring injury. DeShon Elliott and Derrick Harmon also sat out, both with knee injuries, and both have been ruled out for this week; backup offensive tackle Calvin Anderson was missing due to illness. Cam Heyward and TJ Watt were given the day off.
