IUP held a 9/11 memorial ceremony in the Oak Grove Thursday morning.
The program featured remarks from Lieutenant Colonel and IUP Professor of Military Science Erich Steffens, President Dr. Micheal Driscoll, and Brigadier General Robin Paul Swan, a retired Pentagon senior executive and IUP class of 1978. It also featured a performance by the IUP Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Timothy Paul.
Three IUP alumna who were killed in the attacks were also honored, William Moskal from the class of 1979, 1980 Graduate Donald Jones and William Sugra, a 1993 graduate. Dr. Driscoll talked about the importance of the program for the community.
General Swan emphasized remembrance and reflection; remembrance for those who were alive when the attacks happened, and reflection for those who were not.
