The newest drought map released on Thursday by the National Integrated Drought Information System shows all of Indiana County is now categorized as “abnormally dry,” and a small portion of the northeast corner of the county is listed in “moderate drought.”
The drought declaration affects 7.2 percent of the county’s residents (6,351 people). Small sections of neighboring Jefferson and Clearfield counties are also in moderate drought.
