The Steelers and defensive lineman Cam Heyward have agreed on a deal that adds bonus money to the former All-Pro’s current contract. Heyward is expected to be in the starting lineup in time for today’s one o’clock kickoff against the Jets in New Jersey.
The terms of the deal have not been released, but numerous sources report that it adds $3 million in incentives to this year’s salary, raising Heyward’s compensation this season to as much as $18 million. ESPN reports the incentives include bonuses for making the playoffs and winning a playoff game, which the Steelers have not done since 2016.
The Steelers also yesterday added defensive back and special teamer James Pierre to today’s active roster.
