Linebacker Nick Herbig remained limited at Steelers practice yesterday, with the season opener against the Jets now two days away. With Alex Highsmith having missed time in training camp but back in action now, the Steelers may have to turn to rookie Jack Sawyer to spell their veteran starters, Highsmith and TJ Watt.
Cam Heyward was given the day off as his playing status remains uncertain due to a contract dispute.
The Steelers’ final injury report before Sunday’s game is due today. Their first round pick, defensive lineman Derrick Harmon, has already been ruled out with a knee injury.
