Separate trials have been ordered for the parents of an adopted Westmoreland County boy whose death prosecutors allege was the result of torture.
According to prosecutors, Lauren and Jacob Maloberti of Delmont emotionally and physically abused their five-year-old adopted son before his death in February 2023.
Attorneys for Jacob Maloberti requested that the cases be split, citing anticipated conflicts between the couple’s defense strategies.
