Nick Cimillo’s resurgent second half continued yesterday as he smacked two home runs in Altoona’s 8-0 win over Harrisburg. Cimillo hit a two-run shot in the first inning and a three-run blast in the seventh. Konnor Griffin cracked his third Curve home run, giving him hits and RBIs in seven consecutive games. Esmerlyn Valdez, Termarr Johnson, and Javier Rivas each had two hits along with Cimillo. Wilber Dotel threw five-and-two-thirds scoreless innings for the Curve.
The Curve are above .500 on the season at 63-62. They lead Richmond by two games and Harrisburg and Akron by three games in the second-half playoff chase in the Eastern League Southwest Division, with six games against the Flying Squirrels starting tomorrow night. Richmond has won seven of its last eight games.
