Two state educational groups are voicing their displeasure about the lack of a state budget.
As the state budget impasse enters its third month, the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators and the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials say the stalemate is costing taxpayers, schools and communities across the state millions each day. They are also not happy with the perceived lack of action, with no official sessions on the schedule until September 8th for the state house and the 22nd for the Senate. There have been reports that Governor Josh Shapiro’s office has pitched a $49.9 billion budget, which would increase state spending by only 5% instead of the 8% originally proposed by Shapiro.
State House Democrat spokespeople are saying that their caucus continues to negotiate in good faith. That was also part of a statement from Kate Flessner, spokesperson for State Senator Joe Pittman.
