Pitt scored the first time they touched the ball in a 61-9 season-opening win over Duquesne and Penn State scored on its first possession as they opened with a 46-11 beatdown of Nevada on Saturday.
Desmond Reid returned a punt 88 yards for a touchdown after Pitt’s defense shut down the Dukes on the game’s first series. Eli Holstein then threw a career-high four touchdown passes for the Panthers.
Pitt will host Central Michigan next Saturday afternoon.
Penn State’s Nicholas Singleton scored two touchdowns and Kaytron Allen scored one, while Drew Allar threw a TD pass to Kyron Hudson in Penn State’s win. The Nittany Lions’ defense recovered two fumbles and intercepted a pass.
Penn State will host Florida International on Saturday.
