An Indiana County native is a new general manager of the University of Pittsburgh’s Petersen Events Center.
Lauren Williams Klinefelter, the daughter of Dana Henry of Homer City, was named the GM after five years working at the facility as part of Chartwells Food Service. She talks about the planning that goes into place for events at the facility that the public doesn’t necessarily see.
On top of that, she also has to deal with security issues, and she is quick to credit her team for keeping the building safe, whether it is during events or during the school day at Pitt as it does serve as a food court for students.
Klinefelter said that even at a young age, she knew she wanted to be in the service industry.
The event season this year at Pitt is coming up to speed quickly, with a concert by Hans Zimmer scheduled for September 15th and several sports events to follow.
