UPDATE: Power was restored as of 8:30 this morning. The cause of the outage was a tree branch that fell on power supplier lines at the Georgeville substation. The delay in restoration was due to repairs being more complicated than expected.
WHAT WAS FIRST REPORTED:
Power is out for many residents in Northwest Indiana County this morning.
REA Energy reports that the outage started around 9:15 last night, and is affecting a total of 744 customers in North, South, East and West Mahoning Townships, along with another 23 in Perry Township in Jefferson County. The majority of the outages are in South Mahoning Township.
No word yet on when power will be restored or the reason for the outage.
Penelec customers are not affected by the outage. Only 6 customers in the Marion Center area are without power right now.
