Students and staff at Washington High School are mourning the death of assistant football coach Ron Todd.
Todd died after collapsing in the stands following Friday night’s game against McGuffey.
The district’s acting superintendent confirmed Todd’s passing in a letter sent to families Friday evening.
In addition to his football coaching responsibilities, Todd was a junior high teacher special education teacher within the district. He also served as a varsity assistant coach for baseball, along with coaching bocce for special needs students, according to the Washington district website.
The cause of death has not been disclosed. District officials stated that grief counselors will be available at the school beginning this morning.
