Altoona lost to Richmond, 6-5 on a walk-off single in the ninth inning yesterday. Nick Cimillo had given the Curve the lead with a two-run homer in the eighth, but Jaden Woods gave up two in the ninth to take the loss.
Major League Baseball’s number one prospect is on the move again. After going 2-for-5 yesterday for Greensboro in a loss to Greenville, Konnor Griffin was promoted by the Pirates to the Altoona Curve. Griffin is hitting a combined .332 with 16 home runs, 72 RBIs, and 59 stolen bases this season at Bradenton and Greensboro. He’s hit .325 at High-A with seven homers.
When he plays his first game, presumably tomorrow night against Reading, the 19-year-old will become the youngest player in Curve history. The previous youngest Altoona player was Andrew McCutchen, who was also 19, but was six months older than Griffin will be when he debuts.
