Just shy of one year after an eleven-year-old girl was fatally struck by a vehicle in Harrison Township (Allegheny County), charges are being filed in the case.
Young Roxanne Bonnoni died after she was hit by a Jeep Patriot while crossing North Canal Street on August 20th of 2024. Sixty-five-year-old Jeffrey Glowatski has been charged this week with three counts of DUI and two counts of careless driving. Reports say Glowatski drank a dozen beers prior to the accident that claimed the little girl’s life.
A spokesperson for the child’s family responded to yesterday’s news by saying that while they understand the technical difficulty in proving the specific elements of homicide-related charges — and understand the commonwealth’s decision to file the DUI charges alone — they have to wonder aloud whether a sober Mr. Glowatski would have seen the child crossing the street.
