A night after rallying but losing 3-2 in ten innings, the Altoona Curve rallied again against Hartford, but this time the Curve walked-off the Yard Goats, 3-2.
Trailing 2-1, the Curve got a game-tying sacrifice fly from Esmerlyn Valdez in the bottom of the eighth, and after Wilkin Ramos tossed a scoreless ninth and Brandon Bidois threw a scoreless tenth, Altoona’s placed runner, P.J. Hilson, advanced to third on a throwing error by Hartford’s catcher Bryant Betancourt, and scored the game-winner on a Mitch Jebb sacrifice fly to deep left field. Jebb had scored earlier for the Curve, doubling in the second inning, stealing third, and scoring on a subsequent balk.
Po-Yu Chen pitches for the Curve today in the series finale.
