Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin said many of the backup players will see a lot of playing time tomorrow night in the pre-season tilt against the Jacksonville Jaguars, while veteran players will not see as much on-field time. This includes quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who said he would suit up for tomorrow’s game if asked. Several other veterans are out for rest, while Calvin Austin III, Alex Highsmith, Donte Kent and Corey Trice, Jr. To help the quarterbacks room, the Steelers signed journeyman QB Logan Woodside, giving them three healthy QB’s before tonight’s game.
Meanwhile, the Steelers are trying to satisfy a disgruntled veteran. ESPN reports Cameron Heyward is only partially practicing in hopes of getting a new contract. The defensive tackle has two years left on his deal which pays him just under 15-million dollars this year.
