Week One of the preseason is just around the corner.
Exhibition football for the Steelers begins Saturday night when the team squares off against the Jaguars from Jacksonville. But they may have to go without one of their rookie quarterbacks. Head coach Mike Tomlin told the media yesterday that Will Howard suffered an injury to his throwing hand. The sixth-round pick in April’s draft will be further evaluated.
During practice yesterday, defense ruled the day in the two-minute drills, holding on to two staged drives to end practice at Saint Vincent. Adding in their good work during the Friday Night Lights session, the defensive unit is 4-0. But the offense fared better in the “seven shots” two-point conversion drills, with five of the seven shots resulting in scores.
