IUP is welcoming 22 educators from 13 countries for the upcoming season as part of the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching program.
International primary and secondary teachers will come to western Pennsylvania from August 13th to December 10th. As part of their work, the visiting educators will complete professional development coursework at IUP and will be guest teachers in the Indiana Area School District and in the Pittsburgh Public School system. IUP is one of only two universities in the nation and the only school in the state chosen as a host school for the program. The teachers are coming from Bangladesh, Botswana, Brazil, Finland, Greece, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Morocco, Philippines, Senegal, Singapore, and Uganda.
This marks the 10th year that IUP has been selected for the program, and including this group, they will have hosted 180 educators through this program, and the former International Leaders in Education program.
