State police are investigating a vehicle crash in Cambria County on Sunday that killed a Northern Cambria student.
Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees identified the victim as 17-year-old McKenna Gardner was killed in the crash along Nicktown Hill Road near Brick Lane in Barr Township at 5:53 in the morning. She was one of four people in a compact car that state police said went off the road on the Northbound side of Nicktown Hill Road, spun out and hit a utility pole. Gardner was thrown from the car at that point. Three other teens in the car were injured.
An autopsy showed that Gardner died due to blunt force trauma connected with the crash. Northern Cambria High School officials say they notified families via the district’s email system with information on available grief counseling.
