The Pirates’ Andrew McCutchen joined an elite list of Major League sluggers, and his booming home run proved to be the game-winner as the Bucs kept their momentum alive last night. Joe Block recaps a big night on the bayfront in San Francisco.
Manager Don Kelly says the Bucs worked hard for this one.
Kelly was eager to see the exclusive list of home run hitters that McCutchen joined last night.
That list includes Hank Aaron, who did it for 23 seasons; Eddie Murray and Carl Yastrzemski, each with 20 seasons; Barry Bonds, Albert Pujols and Frank Robinson, with 19; Harold Baines and Mickey Mantle, at 18; and Jeff Kent, Willie McCovey and McCutchen, all with 17.
