A Brush Valley woman is accused of using power of attorney to steal money from a senior citizen.
Indiana County District Attorney Robert Manzi said the charges against 64-year-old Kathy Twigg include financial exploitation of an older adult or care-dependent person, theft by failure to make required disposition of funds received, and misappropriation of entrusted property. An investigation was started when a family member came forward to say that the 93-year-old victim was removed from care at a nursing home due to Twigg failing to pay the associated costs, despite the fact that the victim had money to pay for it. The investigation revealed that Twigg reportedly failed to properly use the victim’s funds and exploited her financially.
The case was filed before District Judge Susanne Steffee. A preliminary arraignment is scheduled for Thursday.
