State police are continuing to look for a New Alexandria man believed to be behind an explosion in Salem Township.
Troopers have charged 54-year-old James Sever with attempted homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and other crimes for the incident July 20th in Salem Township. He allegedly placed a bomb underneath his former landlord’s lawnmower that went off after he started the mower Sunday along Route 22. The victim pushed the handles on the rider mower forward and that triggered the explosion that scattered debris in the garage. State police were joined by the FBI and ATF in the investigation.
The landlord told authorities that he had evicted Sever on June 3rd and there was a confrontation between the two eight days later.
A warrant is out for Sever’s arrest. He is known to frequent wooded areas in the Blairsville and Derry areas. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911.
