Pitt football coach Pat Narduzzi will start his eleventh season at the helm of the Panthers when training camp opens next Wednesday, and at yesterday’s ACC Football Kickoff in Charlotte, North Carolina, he said that if they can stay healthy, he has the talent on his roster to win the conference championship.
Pitt started last season 7-0 but then lost its last six games, including a six-overtime loss to Toledo in the GameAbove Sports Bowl.
Pitt basketball will renew its rivalry with former Big East foe Villanova this season. CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein says the schools have agreed to a home-and-home series at ‘Nova this season and at Pitt next season.
Pitt and Villanova have played 65 times, with the Wildcats leading the series with the Panthers, 33-32, including the most memorable game, in the 2009 NCAA Elite Eight, when Scottie Reynolds’ buzzer beater completed a Villanova comeback for a two-point win.
