The Pirates came into the Detroit series off a three-game sweep at the hands of the White Sox, who have the worst record in the American League. But the Bucs turned it around in a big way, sweeping the team with the best record in the AL. Greg Brown recaps yesterday’s big win.

The Pirates are off today and host the Arizona Diamondbacks for the first of three games starting tomorrow night.
On his weekly injury update, senior director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said rehabbing reliever Ryan Borucki pitched on Tuesday for Indianapolis and would throw again last night to see how he does in back-to-back games. He did that and gave up a run on a hit and two walks in two-thirds of an inning.
Reliever Chase Shugarts threw off a mound yesterday to test his injured knee.
Tomczyk said the Pirates may have kept pitcher Johan Oviedo in Florida too long before getting him into actual minor league games. Oviedo will start for Altoona tonight, then be transferred to Indianapolis to continue his rehab.
Catcher Endy Rodriguez will slow down his rehab because of lingering soreness in his elbow.
Altoona infielder Jack Branigan has had surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder and is done for the year.
The Pirates have signed eight more picks from last week’s MLB Draft. Shortstop Gustavo Melendez, second baseman Dylan Palmer, catcher Adonys Guzman, outfielders Josh Tate, Eddie King, and Canon Reeder, and pitchers Cameron Keshock and Brandon Cain were assigned to the Florida Complex League along with another rookie, free agent pitcher Draven Zeigler.
